Sobre Villa La Angostura
Villa La Angostura: Patagonia's Best-Kept Secret
Villa La Angostura is a lakeside village in Neuquén province, on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. With an intimate atmosphere, tree-lined streets and nature surrounding it completely, it's one of the most elegant and peaceful destinations in Argentine Patagonia.
The Arrayanes Forest: One of a Kind on Earth
On the Quetrihué Peninsula, inside Los Arrayanes National Park, stands the only arrayanes forest (Luma apiculata) in South America. These cinnamon-barked evergreen trees create a fairy-tale atmosphere said to have inspired Walt Disney for Bambi's forest. Access by boat or a 12 km coastal trail from the village.
The Seven Lakes Route
Villa La Angostura is the northern starting point of the famous Seven Lakes Route (RN 234), Argentina's most spectacular scenic drive. 110 km connecting seven lakes in impossible colors through forests, volcanoes and snow-capped mountains to San Martín de los Andes.
Cerro Bayo Ski Resort
Just 9 km from the village center, Cerro Bayo ski resort offers runs for all levels, natural snow and views of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Its intimate scale makes it a perfect alternative to the busier Catedral resort in Bariloche.
Lake Correntoso and Fly Fishing
The Correntoso River — one of the world's shortest rivers — connects Lake Correntoso to Nahuel Huapi and is a fly fishing paradise. The area also offers kayaking, windsurfing and boat excursions through the lake's arms.
Food, Craft Beer and Village Life
Villa La Angostura blends Patagonian warmth with top-notch restaurants, craft breweries, chocolatiers and local design shops — all on a walkable, human scale.
How to Get There
80 km from Bariloche via Route 231 (or via the Seven Lakes Route). Nearest airport: Bariloche (BRC). Also reachable by bus from Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes.
