Cerro Chapelco: skiing in winter, mountain with lake views in summer

Cerro Chapelco is 20 kilometers from San MartĂn de los Andes and opened in 1970. Its 140 hectares of skiable terrain make it one of the most complete ski resorts in Argentina, with runs at 1,200 meters altitude and views of Lake LĂĄcar that make even waiting for a lift worthwhile.

In winter: skiing and snowboarding

From June to September the resort runs at full capacity. Runs for all levels, ski school, equipment rental, and dining at the base and on the mountain. The atmosphere is more family-oriented and relaxed than Catedral, making it ideal for those traveling with children or looking for a quieter experience.

In summer: trekking and panoramic views

Off-season, Chapelco opens its lifts so visitors can reach the summit and enjoy one of the best views in the region: Lake LĂĄcar from above, the volcanoes of LanĂn National Park, and the valleys stretching toward Chile. Trekking trails of varying difficulty depart from the summit.
